Saint Christopher is one of the most popular Catholic Saints. He is listed as a martyr (someone who dies for their faith) and was known to be extremely tall, some accounts even referred to him as a giant. Out of the goodness of his heart and his love for Christ, he offered to work at a river nearby, carrying travelers everyday across the river.
One day a child had appeared to Saint Christopher and asked to be carried across the river. As Saint Christopher was carrying him the child became heavier and heavier with every step until Saint Christopher could barely hold him. The child announced that he was Christ and was carrying the weight of the whole world on his shoulders. Then as quickly as the child came he had vanished.
Saint Christopher is known as the patron Saint of Travelers, and many people keep an image or medallion of him for his protection. He is also popular with surfers as he is known to protect people over water. This design shows Saint Christopher surfing with baby Jesus on his shoulders as Jesus holds the world in his hand. This design celebrates Saint Christopher's victory in protecting Jesus over roaring waters.
