Our Lady's Birthday is on September 8
Mary's birthday is a very significant feast, especially in the United States of America. The first Mass in the current United States was celebrated on Our Lady's birthday in 1565 by the Spanish settlers at the Mission Nombre de Dios in St. Augustine. This was the first Eucharistesas (Thanksgiving) celebration on the continent. However, few people celebrate this event, either because they do not know about it or because it did not occur within the original thirteen British colonies.
IDEAS FOR CELEBRATING MARY'S BIRTHDAY:
  • Attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
  • Pray the rosary as Our Lady at Fatima pleaded
  • Consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary as St. Joseph did
  • Get a vase of roses for a statue of Mary
  • Bake a cake
  • Eat your Thanksgiving dinner a little early
  • Wear blue
  • Wear a Marian shirt or medal
  • Create your own tradition
