A 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. We recall the waters of baptism in which we were also baptized into Christ's death, died to sin and evil, and began new life in Christ.

There are many activities we can do with our children and grandchildren during the Lenten season. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, is the beginning of Lent. It is the day when Catholics age14 and up are obliged to abstain from meat, on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent. The faithful between 18 and 59 are called upon to fast, two small meals no larger than the one main meal, on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday in addition to abstaining from meat.

A great way to teach the Christian Faith and live the Mystery of Christ's Passion, Death and Resurrection. The 12 piece resin scene can rotate to the scene of the Crucifixion, which includes the two thieves crucified with Our Lord. The tomb can then be guarded by the soldiers and the large heavy rock. On the Feast of the Resurrection, Easter day, the rock can be removed revealing a risen Christ, two women visiting the tomb. The angel figure can sit on the rock guarding the tomb or it can be removed. The interior of the tomb reveals 12 piece of this set which is a resin stone table and the cloth used to bury.
